Happy Reading, and may all who pick up a book WIN!

822

books

Are you looking for a new book to get lost in this spring?  Lucky for you, in the month of April alone we added 822 eBooks/eAudiobooks! That is a HUGE number.  Surely there is something in that list that would catch your fancy.  What kind of book do you feel like getting swept into: Mystery, Romance, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Non-fiction, Biography, Young Adult?  We have them all!  Some of the highlights that caught this librarian’s eye are:

  • Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare
  • Vendetta in Death by J.D. Robb
  • The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda
  • Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
  • The Tyrant’s Tomb by Rick Riordan
  • The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
  • A Game of Thrones (all 5 books in one) by George R. R. Martin

Remember, not only do we have eBooks, but we also have eAudiobooks.  Often with bestsellers, if the eBook is checked out, give the audio a try.  It is less likely to be out, and then you don’t have to wait to “read” that red-hot, popular book that is flying off the shelves!

Here is the list of 822 eBooks/eAudiobooks that we added in April: April Additions

Spring is here! (maybe?)

bradford pear

Spring is technically here, but it may not feel like it.  Are you waiting in suspense for the rains to fall and the buds to sprout?  Looking forward to the time when the trees are covered in flowers and the smell of fish permeates the air (thank you, Bradford Pear trees).

As you wait for this long-anticipated weather change, pick up a good book to pass the time.  We are ALWAYS adding to our online collection, so you can find something new today!  If you don’t find what you are looking for, feel free to recommend it through our website and also on OverDrive–that way you’ll be notified once it is added to the collection.

A few great books that have been added are:

  • The Chef by James Patterson
  • Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte
  • Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James
  • I have lost my way by Gayle Forman
  • The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

And SO MANY MORE!  For a complete list of eBooks and eAudiobooks added in March, click the link: New March Additions

More Online Content!

RBdigital

We’ve talked about hoopla, freegal, and OverDrive, but have you heard of RBdigital?

RBdigital is yet another online platform that has many, many eAudiobooks and eBooks to choose from, along with free access to Acorn tv-shows/movies, Indie Flix, lectures by professors, magazines, and concerts!  All you need to do is go to our website on your computer: warsawlibrary.org, scroll down until you see the RBdigital link, follow it and create an account using your library card and email address.  Or you can go to: warsawin.rbdigital.com directly.  Once you’ve created an account on the computer, you can download the app and sign in on your device!  To find the app, just search for RBdigital in your app store and download it for free!

With so much free online content through the library, you can access thousands of movies, shows, songs, magazines, books, audiobooks and so much more! Imagine how much you can save by eliminating some monthly subscriptions in favor of what the library has to offer! Not only do we have the online content, but you can also come into the library and access many awesome items, including ones unrelated to books and movies.  For example, we have available for checkout a guitar, telescope, cake pans, tool kit, jewelry kit, wifi hotspots, and so much more!

If you need any help downloading or getting started with RBdigital or any other library platform, feel free to call us at 574-267-6011 or bring your device in to the Reference desk upstairs!  Ask us about our Library of Things while your at it and see what all the library has to offer!

Have you heard about Freegal?

One of the library’s best kept secrets is Freegal, a music download platform.  Did you know you can download (to own!) 5 songs a week with your library card through Freegal? That’s 260 songs in a year! Just go to our website (warsawlibrary.org), scroll down until you see the Freegal icon, and follow the link.  You will need your library card to sign in.  They also have an app that you can get for your phone.  Once you download the music through the app, it appears (at least for android) in the phone’s music library.

Freegal has around 15 million songs!  Their collection includes Sony’s music catalog as well as 40,000 music videos!  Some popular artists available are: Prince, Camila Cabell0, Pentatonix, Sara Bareilles, The Piano Guys, Michael Jackson, Train, Pink Floyd and so many more!

What will you download today?

Did you get a tablet for Christmas?

mobile-tablets-v1-768x432The Holiday season has ended and I’m guessing many of you received a tablet, phone, or eReader for Christmas!  Are you having trouble figuring out how to work it or where to get free content?  Come to the Library and we can help you out!  Many of us at the Reference Desk are great at using devices to access free content through the library.  We can get you set up in no time (as long as you have a valid library card)!

There are SO many different apps that give you free downloads of music, magazines, movies, TV shows, books, and audiobooks.  A few of them are: OverDrive, hoopla, RB Digital, freegal, and Kanopy! You can access these at www.warsawlibrary.org/eresources/ Feeling overwhelmed by all the options? No problem! We are here to help you out.  Stop in or call with any questions; our number is 574-267-6011.
